This is a true story. The other day I went for dinner with few of my friends when suddenly someone brought out the topic of Push to Talk (PTT). One of our friends, a lady, was kind of blur and asked what the hell is this PTT thing. Being a good friend, each of us took turn in explaining to her about this PTT. How it works, how much it costs etc.
We did tell her that PTT is more or less like a walkie talkie where you need to push the button so that you can speak. You can speak to one person or many people at once but will not be like a normal conversation. One of us also explained to her that currently, in Malaysia, Maxis is the only telco that provides this service. The service is also phone dependent. Most of the recent mobile phones will include this function. Phone yang dah lama memang takde function PTT ni.
After a while, this lady friend responded back to us. “Eleh….aku punya phone lama dulu pun boleh pakai PTT ni, tak payah beli phone baru pun and I was not even subscribed to Maxis.” When asked how she managed to do that, she just picked up her phone for demonstration and said “I just push this button and say your name, then the call will be connected then I can talk to you”. Everybody just burst into laughter at that moment. Being a very inconsiderate person, I laughed the loudest. Crap!! It was such a waste of time explaining. Voice dialing is NOT Push to Talk!!!

On the way back home, I was thinking when would be the smart people apply this Push to Talk technology to women all over the world. I bet there will be less noise pollution and the world will be a more peaceful place to live if women can only talk if we touch/push one of their body parts.
Long live Push to Talk, long live women and have a nice weekend ahead.
